Don't be Caught out
Who should carry out a fire risk assessment?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRO) sets down the legal requirement for businesses to have a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment carried out by a competent and qualified person.
Legal responsibility for carrying out a risk assessment rests with the ‘responsible person’, who is usually the employer or maybe a manager of an activity in the building.
The responsible person needs to decide whether they, or a member of staff, have the necessary knowledge and experience to carry out a fire risk assessment in-house or whether external assistance is required.
How can ID Fire and Security help?
The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) has created a Register of Fire Risk Assessors to ensure that anyone having need of the services of a fire risk assessor can refer to the Register and thereby verify the credentials of their choice of assessor.
Our in-house fire risk assessment service is carried out by competent fire risk assessors, who are registered with both the Institute of Fire Engineers(IFE) and the Fire Industry Association (FIA).
